Direct Support Professionals
Community Living Belleville and Area provides a range of services and supports for adults and children with intellectual disabilities. We are seeking qualified candidates to expand our team.
As a Direct Support Professional you will support people to achieve their goals and facilitate relationships, skills and roles which promote people’s effective participation in the typical and valued life of the community using “Personal Outcome Measures”. You may support people in community homes, community participation supports, families in the community and out of home respite.
We seek qualified candidates who successfully hold one of the following diplomas from an accredited Ontario College: Developmental Service Worker, Social Service Worker, Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Educator, Child and Youth Worker, Behavioral Support Technician/Technologist. University graduates with a degree in a Human Services field will also be considered.
As a prerequisite for employment, all potential new employees must provide, at their own cost, a Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Search. In addition to the CRC/VSS, all new employees must hold a G drivers’ license and have a clean driver abstract.
Candidates selected for employment at Community Living Belleville and Area must complete four (4) hours of volunteer time at the selected location. This will provide the people supported with an opportunity to meet employment candidates and contribute to the decision-making process for new employees. It also provides new employees with a better understanding of whom they will be supporting and what is expected of them. A decision to hire will be made after this visit.
